Environmental assessment of coastal and marine ecosystems;

Scientific Research
in Coastal Environments
and Estuarine

Area dedicated to the development of scientific research and activities of Environmental monitoring in coastal and marine environments. IVIG works to generate applied knowledge, contributing to the understanding, conservation, and sustainable management of these ecosystems.

Our team conducts environmental assessments and develops studies in different environments, including beaches, coastal dunes, rocky shores, bays, and estuarine systems such as river deltas. Activities range from environmental monitoring to the development of technological solutions applied to ecological research.

The work is carried out by the Coastal and Estuarine Research Laboratory (LABCOEST) , which operates at the IVIG facilities, consolidating a trajectory of research focused on the dynamics and environmental quality of coastal ecosystems.

Main Activities

  • Environmental assessment of coastal and marine ecosystems;

  • A team skilled in developing low-cost submersible (ROV) prototypes aimed at supporting ecological research, including autonomous diving operations.

  • Development and application of technologies for benthic macrofauna sampling and seabed studies;

  • Marine environmental monitoring in different coastal regions, including areas of high ecological sensitivity.
